Virtual Meeting Ice Breakers: Helping Remote Teams Warm Up and Stay Connected

Description

As more and more people transition to remote working conditions where they need to effectively balance both personal and professional responsibilities, being able to switch their gears to “meeting mode” and then offer fully-present contributions to virtual work meetings does not happen easily. In addition, remote teams often find it challenging to build or sustain existing rapport with one another. As a result, your virtual meetings may struggle to encourage creativity and problem solving when your team members are dispersed and now rarely, if ever, get to meet face-to-face. A virtual ice breaker is a simple approach to get everyone warmed up for a meeting and wearing their meeting hats from home, to get conversations flowing, to break down barriers or shyness associated with being “online,” to energize a meeting, and to help team members learn more about each other. This session helps people . . .

  • Define a virtual icebreaker
  • Explain when to use and when not to use a virtual icebreaker
  • Strategically select an appropriate virtual icebreaker
  • Match an icebreaker to a virtual team’s needs and preferences
  • Experience several examples of virtual icebreakers

Up to 30 students

  • Virtual Classes will be a live, Instructor lead class in Zoom for Government, a virtual technical assistant VTA will be available to assist students with any technical issues, take roll, administer evaluations, and distribute certificates of completion. Course materials will be provided electronically.
  • Onsite classes will be held at your location. The instructor will travel to you. Materials will be printed and shipped to your site. A sign-up sheet will be provided for student to enter their name (as they want it on their certificate) and the email address to send the certificate to. GSA travel costs will be added to the course fee. Contact us for a travel estimate.
  • A minimum of 2 weeks lead time is needed for virtual classes, 3 weeks for onsite classes.
